Tomorrow is the election! Together, over the last 110 days, through these blogs, we have prayed and prepared for tomorrow. While we get ready for whatever may happen, pause one last time in peace. Breathe… deeply… and exhale! I am praying in an attitude of repose. There is a hymn that I have always loved, “Jesus I am resting, resting, in the joy of who You are. I am finding out the greatness of Your loving heart. You have bid me gaze upon You, and Your beauty fills my soul, for by Your transforming power You have made me whole! Oh, how great Thy loving kindness, Vaster, broader than the sea. Oh, how marvelous Your goodness, lavished all on me!” We must learn to lean, it doesn’t always come easily. We “labor to enter that rest of the soul.” (Hebrews 4:11) Satan loves to cause anxiety and stress and he loves to stir up the waves! Remember the scene that all four gospels record, of the disciples in the boat and suddenly the storm has overwhelmed the men and the ship? Waves are pouring in and Jesus is… sleeping. We, during this time in our nation, are like the disciples, we rush to Him in a flurry shouting to Jesus to “wake up!” He rises and asks them, “Why are you so freaked out!? He says one word and the storm stops! And then, again, He asks, “Why are you so freaked out? Men of little faith.” They stand there in absolute calm. Feel it? They look again to see Him standing by their side, and with awe they ask “Who is this man? Even the wind and waves obey Him!!!” Jesus we worship You! You are the One who is in control of every storm! Amen.
We are preparing, now, for Election Day, this is happening in just two days. How can we prepare ourselves most effectively? Worship is the best remedy to strengthen our faith and calm our fears. There is nothing too difficult for God! There is nothing that will happen that is surprising to God! He knows all the past, present, and the future. The outcome of whoever is voted into power, is in the hand of the Almighty. Great opportunities or great challenges are being orchestrated by the Almighty as you read these lines. We can be certain that out of this election will come results that God will use that He defines as “good”. He will give us whatever we need, in strength, power, wisdom, and whatever more we may need. Let the reader know that the one typing these notes has never seen a time in our history, as a nation, quite like this! Nonetheless, my heart rests in the fact that our God is bigger in every way than whatever lesser things may seem to challenge Him. He who sits in the heavens laughs, is amused and unbothered. He sits as Serene and Supreme. It is this God who saves us! “Fear not!” He declares… 365 times! He urges us not to let our hearts be troubled. He is not at all troubled by what He sees going on, and He wants us to share His perspective. Worship Him in a Spirit of calm and in the Truth that He is completely in charge! Amen!
Tomorrow is worship! Now, only 3 days to go to election day. Pray for God’s Presence in your home during this lock down. Jesus taught us that we can have God’s Heavenly atmosphere in our homes. How can we experience Heaven on earth?! Let’s follow His lead in praying, “Our Father, You are ruling over everything from Heaven. We start by honoring Your Name! We are holding Your Name- Father, Your Name- Jesus, and Your Name-Holy Spirit…as high as we can! We exalt and worship You! We pray that Your Kingdom will be active, and will influence our attitudes in allowing the Prince of Peace to rule over our hearts and minds. We then pray that we will be obedient to doing Your will. If there is anything in our lives that needs to be confessed and removed… start with me Lord.” Then pray and ask God to; “Fill each person in my family with Your wisdom, love, justice, and mercy as we prepare for tomorrow’s worship. We ask for Your blessing on our home! Bless our family with Your smile on each of us! In Jesus Name, Amen.”
Four days now, before the election! Voting is our right and privilege. Law and order are always best over reckless rioting. Mob rule and chaos is never the right action. Every nation has to choose what they will allow. Let us behave with poise and civility. Let us live with others in a peaceful manner. As children of God, we are the earth’s peacemakers! Now is the time to show this character and skill. Peace is made by the L-O-V-E cycle of communication.
L stands for listen.
O stands for observe their body language.
V stands for verify what you have heard them say. ie; “Is this what you said?”- giving them a chance to clarify, whenever needed.
E is for express your thought… after listening first! Then we allow the other person to return the L-O-V-E, and the exchange will be more helpful and peace-making.
Remember James 1:19, 20 “Be swift to hear and slow to speak and slow to wrath, for the wrath of man does not accomplish the righteousness of God.” Let’s show others how it works! “Father, lead us in peace. Make us a reputation as children of God in these days of angry, destructive and hurtful words. Use us to be Your light and salt… brighter and better… in order that we may lift others up! In Jesus Name, Amen.
The clock is ticking… with only 5 days left! This election holds an opportunity for us to vote for either righteous and impartial judges, or corrupt and biased judges. Look at the list of the judges we are voting on, here, in Orange County and LA County. Look over the list and you will see some infamous names that our votes could remove and replace! Now is our chance to make a difference! We get to express our desired choices for Congressman, Senators, State Attorney, and many State Judges and Representatives. We also need to look over the 12 Propositions! Let’s choose how our tax dollars will be spent… or saved for better things. With just a few minutes of our time with a ballot… we can bring about real change! Pray for the voting process to be orderly and free from corruption. Pray that anyone seeking to create confusion will be thwarted and exposed. God is not the Author of confusion or fear, but of order and clarity of mind. Be active and step up this year. We can accomplish more than you think! When the election is over, and the results come in, win or lose… at least we will know that we did our part! Let’s have no regrets! Pray and obey God’s Word! Whether we face good news or bad news…we are confident that God is Sovereign over all things! Amen? Yes! Amen!
Let us all pray and fast today. The last 6 days are here before the election. The Corona virus has been a tough time for all. If you have never read the book, “Alexander and His Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day” upon which he lamented saying, “I will move to Australia.” During this time of Corona virus, I sure have felt that way; “let’s all move to Australia!” 2020 had so much promise. Things were never better here in the USA! Hopes soared, wages soared to new heights, optimism was at an all time high. When we look back we forget how upbeat our nation was, and suddenly we were hit with a challenge that stopped all productivity. Businesses closed down. Schools, sports, and churches closed down. It is 10 months later and we are still under the virus. Pray for this season to end. Pray for us to learn what God wants us to learn during this time. Ask the important question, what is God doing? I believe He is motivating our nation to be more focused on their relationships. Neighborhoods, families, and a general goodwill to men has shrunk. One thing I know about God, He loves relationships. He Himself is a community of three in One. We are meant to build and deepen lasting friendships. Unfortunately we have become more divided than ever. It was bad in 2008, but relationships now have sunk to new lows. Freedom to speak is now full of censorship. Do we care about each other? This time of being closed down has revealed that we do not know how to be friendly or courteous. Love for our neighbor is needed. Compassion and empathy, mercy and reaching out with a helping hand. Let’s pray for Samaritan’s Purse (we just gave them a gift for $13,000. I am proud of you all!) Let’s pray for more efforts to understand each other. May we find ways during this time to get involved. We can give blood, volunteer, donate, and pray for each other. It’s not too late. And there are many ways to be a positive influence. With people like you here at Faith, I know we can be a force for loving God and each other. In Jesus Name. Amen.
The time is near, with only 7 days before we go to vote. What is at stake? We could possibly face a new kind of leadership, one that would begin forcing upon every citizen the platitudes of free medicine, free education, free healthcare with free medication!
But we must be mindful and aware that this idea of “free” would not really be the truth. Our nation would soon see that “taxation“, not “generosity of heart“ would be enforced. This new system of government would be one of “the will of the leaders” and not as our great Constitution declares, “We the People…” The changes would be multiple and rapid and we would find that the new enforcement of laws would sound more like; “you will listen or be fined”! Double standards will be common. Leaders will dictate and enforce, but will not have to comply themselves with their laws. It could be, without our prayers and the mercy of God, that within a few short years…we will not be able to recognize our own country! Let us pray that this is not our future! Let us pray for leaders who will lead us to “one nation under God…with liberty and justice for all.”! Pray that we will not be blind or gullible to false promises! Promises that have already proven to deeply ruin other nations who chose to go down this path. “Hear us, O God! Have mercy on us, we pray! Amen.”
We are down to 8 days and then we vote! In this election we have a choice between leaders who choose their teams of national workers based on their skills and character, or those who would choose based on their color of skin. Let’s pray that the leaders chosen will be those who would agree with Martin Luther King in his famous speech of August 23, 1963 when he shouted; “I have a dream that my four little children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin but by the content of their character. I have a dream today.”
We must pray together, and unitedly, to be alert to those who would return our nation to the past. They would take us into a time when men and women will be identified by their appearance rather than their qualifications and abilities. We would be headed for a dark return to segregation and the judgments that pit one nationality against another. When Martin Luther looked to the future, he stated it bravely; “It is a dream deeply rooted in the American dream. I have a dream that one day this nation will rise up and live out the true meaning of its creed: We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal.” We must never go backwards to inequality, but must forever move forward into a just and fair evaluation of what we can all accomplish when hearts are full of love and are united in hope! “Lord, break down the walls of hatred and division. Please let love and the brotherhood of man increase!
