Tomorrow is the election! Together, over the last 110 days, through these blogs, we have prayed and prepared for tomorrow. While we get ready for whatever may happen, pause one last time in peace. Breathe… deeply… and exhale! I am praying in an attitude of repose. There is a hymn that I have always loved, “Jesus I am resting, resting, in the joy of who You are. I am finding out the greatness of Your loving heart. You have bid me gaze upon You, and Your beauty fills my soul, for by Your transforming power You have made me whole! Oh, how great Thy loving kindness, Vaster, broader than the sea. Oh, how marvelous Your goodness, lavished all on me!” We must learn to lean, it doesn’t always come easily. We “labor to enter that rest of the soul.” (Hebrews 4:11) Satan loves to cause anxiety and stress and he loves to stir up the waves! Remember the scene that all four gospels record, of the disciples in the boat and suddenly the storm has overwhelmed the men and the ship? Waves are pouring in and Jesus is… sleeping. We, during this time in our nation, are like the disciples, we rush to Him in a flurry shouting to Jesus to “wake up!” He rises and asks them, “Why are you so freaked out!? He says one word and the storm stops! And then, again, He asks, “Why are you so freaked out? Men of little faith.” They stand there in absolute calm. Feel it? They look again to see Him standing by their side, and with awe they ask “Who is this man? Even the wind and waves obey Him!!!” Jesus we worship You! You are the One who is in control of every storm! Amen.
