It is during a war that battle gear is needed. The muscles have been trained, the mind has been encouraged by God’s Promises, and now we begin to put on the armor… piece by piece. Ephesians 6:14 guides us to “Stand firm therefore, HAVING GIRDED YOUR LOINS WITH TRUTH, and HAVING PUT ON THE BREASTPLATE OF RIGHTEOUSNESS.” The whole outfit is tied together by the belt of Truth. The stability and security of the soldier is accomplished by the Truth. We follow Truth! The promises of God are true! God, Who cannot lie, made these promises and every promise is “YES and Amen”! The second piece of armor is the impregnable and invincible righteousness of Christ. His perfect obedience to all that God has said is in our hearts, emotions, and deepest willingness. I want to follow God! I want to be holy! I want to be faithful! We have been freely given this righteousness, supplied by the righteous and obedient Lord Jesus. He never sinned or failed anything that the Father asked Him to do. The belt of truth and the righteousness of Christ combine together to make every effort of the slandering, accusing and condemning Devil… fall flat! He cannot make any progress against the armies of Christ! We stand secure and blameless before God. He responds to our prayers as if Jesus Himself was praying. “Lord, hear me! Help me! Strengthen me! Guide me!” Each and every time that we call out during the battle, we are heard and God comes to us! We win because Jesus won! That is the truth! Stand firm in it! Amen.
