Whenever we join the prayer team of Faith Community, (that includes all who are praying with me in these blogs) and ask for God’s blessing on our country and on our own lives, we are reminded that we must stand firm if we are to win. Ephesians 6:12 explains. “For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the powers, against the world forces of this darkness, against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places.” It is important to realize that the real enemy is invisible to the human eye, but is visible to the spiritual mind developed by God’s wisdom. Satan is seeable, as are his demons, through “the eye of spiritual discernment”. Remember the story of Elisha’s servant and how Elisha prayed for his servant to see the angelic armies that were invisible and suddenly they were visible? When we pray, we are to address God, not Satan, and we always pray in Jesus Name! Just as Elisha did, we pray to God about the enemy when we see bitterness, ugly anger, deceit, lust and greed, pride, distractions from eternal purpose, misunderstandings that blame others for things they did not do or say… etc. These are but a few of the attacks from that invisible world of Satan’s legions. Resist the devil and he will flee from you! Prayers against Satan’s plots are focused on our Deliverer not on the temptations. Look to Jesus! Look to His promises! It is when we choose to live with this focus that we can be sure that we have impacted the spiritual world with our faith! “Father, we look to You to deliver us from the evil one, on earth as it is in heaven. Stop him! Sabotage his tricks and reveal to others his lies. In Jesus Name, Amen”
Please join us tomorrow as our church takes the day to pray and fast together. Fasting is a meaningful way to draw close to the Lord and can be very effective along with prayer. In fasting we discover something unique and powerful. We see many examples of joining fasting with prayer in God’s Word. If fasting is new to you or you have questions about it, please reach out to us so that we can help you get started with things you should know about fasting written by Pastor David! God bless you.
