Today I want to start of by asking you a question; have you ever felt like you were having a hard time focusing? Like your mind had so many questions and issues distracting it from what you wanted to focus on that you could feel worry triggering and trying to take over? These recent tough days have created so many added concerns and distractions, including our worrying about catching the dreaded corona virus! We seem to have so much more home time, and yet, we can still suddenly be worrying about forgetting to pay the bills! Our schedules and to do lists get confusing and suddenly I am asking myself; “was I supposed to take care of that or was someone else taking care of it?” What does God teach us in His Word that will help us with our ability to focus and get a steadiness of our emotions? First, I find that we do so much better when we stop and deliberately put our attention on the worth and honor of the Precious Lamb! “The One who is in the very center of the throne, He will shepherd them.” (Rev 7:17). We can take this visual and build all our jobs and cares around it on every side, so as to
encircle the throne of God like the angels do. We can make all that we do, each day, a service to the “Precious Lamb.” The word “Precious” in Greek is “arnion” and is used 31x in the book of Revelation. It describes our Lord of lords and King of kings as a gentle, playful, delightful, lovable, small little lamb, even called the endearing name, “lambkins”. What makes this Lamb the center of all things? What makes Him the center of the universe, of all of Heaven, and the center in my heart? The answer to that important question is this; He was slaughtered viciously for our sins. This undeserved event…this unselfish gift of His life, is what makes Him the worthy CENTER of all! Why do we love Him so much? Because His innocence and purity was traded for my horrible sinfulness. We do not deserve this gift from Him, but it is still ours for all eternity. Wow! That settles my mind down and I can relax! How about you? Why does this relax me? Because I realize that if the Precious Lamb paid for all my sins and secured my eternal welfare, how then, will He not also take care of my lesser concerns?! What a Good Shepherd He is! He takes care of all the worries in my life whether they be big or small things! Each day my worries are settled by His calming Presence and assurance. “I am here, all is well, be of good courage!” He promises me, and so… I chose to relax and follow Him wherever He leads me! Amen.
