In this week’s blogs it may be necessary and useful for us to keep in mind the past wisdom and teaching regarding our emotions, using the feeling wheel, and the Sovereignty of God! I want us to look at some specific “threats” to our national integrity and unity as we get closer to the important upcoming election.  The topics and important issues may not be comfortable to focus on…even briefly… but it is important to do this, as we prepare to impact our country! As believers, our prayers will need to be more direct and filled with God’s passion. This election brings with it issues that take serious thought and prayer as we make our choices and use our right to vote. For example, I think that we can all agree that terminating the life of a baby who is born and is already living outside the mother’s womb, is clearly wrong. Some would call this “abortion”.  As followers of Christ, we would call this “murder”. We must unite to successfully remove and not to elect officials who would use their positions to approve the killing of a child. This new practice must be rejected by every person who serves Christ. Jesus said, “bring the little children to Me.” This decision among officials and agencies reveals a deep confusion and lack of compassion for life. The life of an innocent baby.  Pray for leaders who will have clarity and compassion for every person involved in the safe birth of the children in our nation. Pray for nurses, doctors, mid wives, the mother and father, families, and especially our elected officials are all an active part of this one decision. Churches, also, must have a godly and positive influence and message to those in our communities. What can we do about such a terrible and increasingly common practice in our country? We can prepare and educate ourselves! Find out where each potential official and/or candidate stands on this issue and then… vote accordingly! First, we take a stand in prayer against these evils and then we make a difference by voting! We agree with God and unite to save these babies! This must stop!  “O Father, hear our prayers to stop those who are killing our babies! Instead, may our hearts be full of love, compassion, and options that offer life for the children.”  Amen.
