Today is our worship day! It is one of our freedoms as American citizens. We are so grateful to God for His abundant blessings and we express that gratitude from hearts that flow worship to Him. As free as we are… there are some in this country who would want God to be removed from our money (In God we trust), from our Pledge of Allegiance (One nation under God), and, basically, from anything that uses public taxes to pay for it. For example, in the LA County emblem there used to be a cross pictured on the graphic of the mission. The cross was removed in 2004 and then put back on again in 2014 where it remained until a judge ruled in 2016 that the cross should be removed… as it is to this day. This battle, behind the scenes, was no small battle to those who were doing the fighting over that small, almost unseen cross. Such battles are happening right now in every part of government. There are some who do not want anything related to church or God given public attention. Back in the 80’s, I had the opportunity to be a substitute teacher for a 5th grade class. This was in the Artesia Bellflower and Cerritos school district. I creatively found many ways to teach Christian truths through history, reading assignments, spelling, etc. However, even there, from the children themselves, I ran into questions about “the separation of church and state”… from 5th grade children! You can be certain that it is even more of a battle today! We must be sure that we are having a godly influence in education, government, business practices, the arts and entertainment world, family values, justice decisions, medicine and health, agriculture and food industry…etc. Christians work, and are represented, in all areas of our society. Pray that believers will be unleashed to bring God’s Kingdom into their specific part of our communities and our government! Pray for them to begin to impact their arena of work with a Christian ethic and purpose! As a result of these prayers we can be assured that it will be possible for God to “Bless America!”
“Father, You have sent us on a mission to serve, and to bring healing and influence, for reconciliation and for healthy living as a society. Use us to bring the hope and the blessing of knowing your Son.” In Jesus Name. Amen.
