In yesterday’s blog we applied God’s Word to the emotion of fear. Today let’s practice what to do with the emotion of anger. Is all anger sinful? Not in itself, but it can easily and quickly become lethal. James 1:19 teaches us to be “quick to listen, slow to speak and slow to get angry”. He reminds us that human anger does not accomplish God’s plans. Our anger, when unleashed and unrestrained, does not produce a life lived in righteousness or obedience to God’s laws. Paul also encouraged us not to pray angry prayers. God encourages us to express healthy and righteous anger- after listening to all the facts! His clear direction for accomplishing this will always be, “Wait on the Lord and He will strengthen your heart, wait I say on the Lord” Psalm 27:14 Be patient and express your feelings carefully. Wait and seek God’s wisdom and process the facts privately, don’t vent or express publicly until there is a clear path for action. Pray for wisdom, clarity, justice, and answers from God’s Word and from godly counsel. Never rush to judgment or jump to a conclusion. Give the other person the benefit of the doubt, this will save you from many embarrassing apologies! Prayer leads to forgiveness, reconciliation, and healing…right here in our land, here in America! 2 Chron 7:14! Amen
