As we explain the steps to the knowledge of God, we come to the fourth and final step of this process. The need, now, is only to receive Jesus’ life as the substitute for their sins. Ask your friend these questions…Will you believe Jesus’ promise that His death and resurrection are the only remedy for your sins? Will you give Him all your sins and commit yourself to following Him as Lord of your life… for the rest of your life? Will you allow His Spirit to make you someone who lives to honor God our Father, to make Jesus our Lord and King, and to listen to the Holy Spirit who now lives in you? Will you dedicate yourself to living a righteous, obedient life, basing all your decisions on faith in Jesus? Answering “yes” to these questions will then lead to the decision to be baptized as an act of obedience and testimony of what has happened in your heart. Baptism is what Jesus taught us to do once we have received His life into ours. What is baptism? It is a symbol of what Jesus has done for us. We, symbolically bury our old life, in the water, and then are raised up out of the water to live the rest of our lives as followers of the Resurrected King! Dead to my old sin-filled life, and resurrected for my new-creation life. Pray that you will have the joy of taking people down this path of finding and knowing God as their personal Savior. Ask God for His power to answer these prayers!
