Today we pause to remember the church of Thyatira. They had seriously compromised their walk with God by allowing a Jezebel-like woman to woo them into spiritual and actual adultery. Read Rev 2:18-29 This evil woman led the saints to betray and rebel against Christ. She taught them to ignore and reject the authority of the Lord Jesus especially in the area of their sexual activity. Are you involved in any type of moral disobedience to the Lord? 1 Thess 4:1-8 reminds us to stay away from every form of immoral living. From our thoughts of secret desire and fantasy, to actual activities that are secret, to sadly crossing over into mutual activity that now has another person or people involved. This sin makes us unwilling to listen to counsel or to even be honest with others. Remember, your level of sin is measured by the scope of involvement. Secret sin usually begin in our thoughts and desires. Soon the secrecy is allowing us to act in ways that grieve God’s Holy Presence. When not confronted, our secret sins soon are known by and joined by other people. Now they, too, disobey the Lord with us. The solution for this area of sin is clear and vital. First you confess and forsake the sin. Have you sinned in your mind, confess the sin to God, stop the thinking and be restored. Have you involved others? Confess your sin to God, forsake the sin and then move on to confessing your sin to those involved and break off the activity. Sometimes the relationship must be terminated in order to regain your Holy living. Confirm that you will stay faithful to God in a life of purity. Let us pray that as God’s people we give the sexual side of who we over are to Him! Are you single? Stay pure. Married? Stay pure. Let us honor God in every decision we make. Amen!
