As we prayed for justice to prevail yesterday, let us focus on the crisis of racism wherever it lurks and hides. May God reveal those who are practicing partiality and personal revenge in any race against another here in our beloved USA. Pray that we love each other, as all of us are made in the image of God. No one is more important or less important than another. Pray for healing in the hearts and lives and families that have suffered over the years from being treated as someone lesser or not as trusted. Martin Luther King said it well, “that we do not judge others by the color of their skin, but on the character of their heart.” What wisdom. Equal wages for equal skills. Equal defense for the poor or ignorant, or the weak and without advocacy.
Where there is ignorance give us knowledge. Where there is confusion may God give clarity. Where there is corruption may God give integrity. Where there is injury let there be forgiveness to others but justice as well. This may be a time in our history when we truly see the end of racism, at least for the moment. We have tried in times past to rid our land of this rot (think of the 1960’s riots and marches, and in the 1990’s Rodney King), but it keeps coming back. Pray for racism to stop. Forgive us for our sins and heal our land of its scars. Only the grace of God and blood of Jesus can seriously change our nation.
